Saturday Camping Fun

Today we wanted to go and check out the re-enactment over at the Fort. This picture below is of Nathan on the bridge behind the Fort coming from the campground. This was an interesting bridge because he could look over and see the crayfish down in the rocks. We continued on into Fort Wilkins.
Here is Nathan on one of the dormant canons. This canon is no longer fired. He wanted to have his picture taken on it so......I took it. He's waving "Hi" to me.
Look at this Face!!! Sometimes you take bunches of pictures and come up with one great one. I love this shot of my grandson!
I love this shot too. He's looking down the barrel of the canon to see if anything is in there. How cute!
The Battery D group was there doing the re-enactment. They were dressed as the soldiers dressed at the Fort and had camp activities all through the day. The best part is when they shoot off the canons. Nathan is sitting on a canon that they fire.
This gentleman is one of the Battery D men. Very kind man. He helped me get pictures of Nathan on the cannon so I made sure to get him in the shot too.
Another shot on the cannon.
Then it was time to head back to the camper. More swimming and getting a fire going were on the agenda. We did manage to get the kayak in the water and take Nathan across Fanny Hoe Lake to a nice sandy area where it was shallow so he could go swimming. He loves to go in the kayak and put his hands in the water while we are paddling.
The water was absolutely beautiful. Besides being as warm as bath water, it was so calm that you could see the reflection of the trees in the water.
I guess I can put up with the snow for days like this.

Friday at the Campground

We pulled into our campsite and the first thing Nathan wanted to do was go swimming. So....we set up camp and Pepper and Nathan went to his favorite swimming spot and he got wet!

This boy loves the water! He was shivering and his lips were turning a light blue before we could get him out of the water.
I had to bribe him with some goodies to get him out of the water and back to the camper.

A-Camping-We-Will-Go!

We are camping in the Harbor this weekend. The Fort is having their re-enactment. Lots of fun!
We'll get lots of swimming in and hopefully the wind cooperates so we can get the kayak in the water!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Pictures will follow soon.

Getting Wet In The Yoop

Ahhhh....don't they look refreshed?! Who needs a waterpark. We got some rain this afternoon and decided to take the Ranger out for a ride. Came across some pretty big water puddles and.....went thru super fast and got totally soaked. My grandson loved it. I've never heard him laugh so much and the look on his face when he got wet was just priceless!
Here is Pepper and Nathan after we got back from our ride. They are totally soaked.....so was I. We had so much fun that I don't care if it rains more. We need more rain water back in the puddles we went thru because we went thru them more than once!
See ya on the trails!

Sunday Soccer Game

The following pictures were taken with the new cameral lense I just purchased. It is a 50-200 zoom and I really like it but have to get used to using it.
These pictures were taken at our daughter's soccer game on Sunday. She really loves the game and is always fun to watch. Now I can get better and closer pictures of her!

Baseball Game

I went on a youth group trip to Minnesota, as a sponsor, with my daughter. We had a lot of fun. Terra is with her friends at the game.
This was one of the signs at the stadium.
Terra and her friend made it on the big screen!
And here is another of her two friends!
Joe Mauer #7 at bat. My daughter thought he was a "hottie". He is a pretty good looking guy, but I liked #27 JJ Hardy.
Meeting of the minds at the mound.
The girls new t-shirts, showing off the names of numbers of their favorite players.
Picture of the girls with the field in the background.
Nice pictures of the girls.
Before the game....batting practice.
A picture of the tickets.
I had a great time at the game. I would definately go again. I loved watching my daughter at her first professional baseball game.
I loved getting there a bit early and shopping and watching batting practice, eating and just hanging out watching the pre-game stuff.
Definately worth going again.

Another Horse Show

We went to Escanaba this past Sunday to watch Nathan in another horse show. He was in two events...lead line trail and lead line. The difference between the two is that he has to maneuver his horse more. Here he is before going into the barn. He sits up on that horse so nice and tall.
Look at that posture. He gets so serious sometimes, but then he will turn his head and stick his tongue out at you. I guess he's just a silly one.
This picture shows his hands better and how he needs to hold the reigns. He's just so stinkin' cute!
It's kind of a dark picture but this is inside the barn where the lead line trail course is. He had to walk his horse thru the poles and on the left were some cones he had to bring his horse thru.
He got a fourth place and was so happy to get his ribbon.
Here he is with his horse, Lakers Chocolicious....."Doc". He is a beautiful horse and Nathan is so small next to him!
There was a horse that was spooked while Nathan was riding inside. It knocked down it's handler and took off with a two year old girl on it. The littel girl didn't want to ride anymore and the horse just wasn't able to be settled down. That's what scares me about this sport/hobby....these horses have good and bad days......you never know when something will spook them. They are such big animals and I worry about my little grandson getting hurt.
I love this picture of Nathan and Pepper. You can just see how much they love each other.
It was a fun day and we were able to take Nathan home with us when he was done with everything. We took him to get a cheeseburger because he said he was starving and then headed back to Calumet.
This Saturday he is going to be introduced to the Little Dragons karate class. I know he'll have fun doing that and of course, I will post pictures.

Happy Birthday Nathan!

Today is our grandson's 4th birthday. It's hard to believe this little guy started out so little. He weighed 2lbs. 3oz. and was only 14 inches long. Born prematurely but thriving today. This little guy has won all our hearts. Our situation is different but it seems to be working and he is thriving in every way. He is so smart! He knows how to spell his name and now we are working on printing his name.
He loves construction vehicles. He loves to ride the 4-wheeler and the Ranger with his grandpa and now grandma gets to go too. He squeals with laughter when grandpa goes thru the water to get grandma wet and gives grandpa the thumbs up when they do.
Nathan will always be special to us. We will love our other grandchildren but this one has a special place in our hearts.
We love you to the moon and back Nathan.....and we always will.
