Where Have I Been??!!

It's been a beautiful summer here and we have tried to do as many things as we can before the cold comes our way again.

School has started and our daughter is busy with volleyball.  Soon, we'll be busy watching our grandson play hockey.  I think my hubby is very excited to watch him and he is thinking about helping out with coaching!

I have taken soooo many pictures and when things slow down I will be able to get caught up on this blog.

Off to another volleyball game and then out of town for more volleyball.

I think I'll be able to catch up---hopefully.

College?

Our daughter will be a senior in high school this year.  She is a very good athlete and until this summer, her favorite sport was basketball.  That all changed when she went to her team volleyball
camp at NMU.

You see, Terra is a good athlete but she is tiny.  We knew she would do well in sports in high school, but didn't think too much about a college athletic career.

I guess I should have had more faith because while at that team camp the NMU volleyball coach spoke with her and her coach.  He asked if she would come back for another camp the next weekend.  We didn't plan on this and decided maybe we wouldn't send her.  Her volleyball coach found my husband and told him if there was any way we could get her to that camp it would be very beneficial as the coach had Terra high on his recruit list.

After hearing that, we made hotel reservations and planned to get her to the camp.  We took along our grandson so he could play in the pool too.  (Pictures to follow in another post.)

Terra thought the camp went well and she liked all of the current players that were helping and she also liked the two recruits.

On Monday, she called me at work to tell me that the coach called her and spoke with her about the camp and what she thought about it.  He also asked her if she was interested in attending NMU.  After they spoke a bit more, he told her that he would like to have her play for him in 2013!

Yippee!!  We'll be going to Northern to watch the girls play this fall and in the spring we'll go down and see what they offer for a scholarship.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Wow! I can't believe my baby girl will be going off to college in about a year.  It's a sad but happy time.

Flowers

Peonies are my favorite flower.  When I saw a double peony I knew I had to have them in the yard.

A couple years later, I saw the single peonies and had to have those as well.

Here are a couple pictures of my single peonies.

I don't get a chance to enjoy these as the deer love all the new flowers.

This single pink is my favorite!  It's just beautiful when the whole plant is in bloom!  Now if I could just keep the deer away!

Birthday Wheels

Nathan has a battery operated 4 wheeler at out house that my parents bought him a few years ago and he really loves it.

Well, Pepper and I talked about how he was out growing this and needed a real 4-wheeler.  We looked a bit on the internet and one day Pep called me and told me he found the perfect 4 wheeler. I wasn't ready yet, but I trust him completely that our grandson was ready. So we took a ride to check it out.  It didn't take us long to make up our minds. It was so dang cute and green camo to boot.  Nathan's favorite color is green--perfect!

We wanted to wait until Nathan was with us so we waited.  We told Nathan that he was getting his birthday present early.  We jumped in the truck and by the time we were in Mohawk, Nathan was fast asleep.  When we got there Pepper took out his helmet (that was hidden) and tried to wake him up---no way! He was zonked!

He finally woke up when we put his helmet on and stood him up in the driveway.  It took him a few minutes to realize what was happening.  He didn't seem too excited at first-still sleepy.
 Starting it up....
Checkin' out the brakes and throttle.....
 Test drive.
 First ride at our house.
 Unloading

Filling water balloons while waiting for his machine to come off the truck.
 Here we gooooo......
This is the brake...this is the throttle.  What's a throttle?...It makes you go!
Drove a little tentative at first but now he's a pro!

Father and Son

I haven't taken too many pictures of this dynamic duo but I was able to snap these one day when we stopped to visit.

Neither one of them really wanted to have their picture taken, but at least no one is sticking their tongue out at me!

It's Been A While!

Whew!! Time flies! It's been a busy summer so far!  I need to catch up on my blog! So........here goes.
I thought about doing one huge blog to catch up, but decided I better break it up because I have so many pictures.

After school was out we took Nathan camping and fishing.

Nathan and Grandpa watching the bobber.
Reelin' it in a little at a time.

Last Days of School for Nathan

Nathan's kindergarten days are over.  It was a great year for him.  He met so many different kids and learned so much!

This first picture is of his classroom.
Nathan's teacher was Mrs. Galetto.  She was wonderful!  She has so much patience and Nathan loved her.

Had to stop at the drinking fountain.
We took a picture by this board because we want to remember to get a lot of summer reading in!
 What a cutie!!
Climbing "the wall" at the playground.
 "Take a picture, Grandma!"

 At the top!

I hope he has a fantastic summer and enjoys his time hanging out with his families!

I know I will try to spend as much time with him as we're allowed.  His is just a joy to be around!

Being a grandparent is so much fun--especially when we're young enough that we can play alongside of him.

School Picnic

Last week my Grandson had his school picnic.  I had the day off of work so I was able to get to the park and hang out with him.  I didn't get too many pictures because the kids were kind of scattered everywhere, so I just hung around him.
He found a stick and like a true boy, had to use it for a spear.
 Jumping in the leaves.

Here he is showing me his "moves like Jagger"!
 Buddies from school.
Getting a drink of water.  He loves playing in and with water!

Each grade had their own color to wear--Kindergarten wore purple.  Nathan's teachers tye dyed their shirts and the kids were allowed to have their friends write on their shirts.

Looks like he had fun!
